Happy New Year!
I hope this letter finds you all very well and full of happiness as we enter 2018 and that your holidays were enjoyable, restful, and full of food. Yes, full of food, because it’s probably cold where you’re at (much like how it is currently around the nation.) , who doesn’t like to sit around, play videogames, and just eat food all day instead of going outside and doing things? Just me? Come on, now.
I wanted to write this personal letter to all of you first before publishing the first set of articles this weekend to say Thank you. Thank you for making 2017 a great year for Galaxy, although I wish to have more followers and more people to read my content but we’ll get there in due time. I want to say Thank you to those who have been here for a good minute and reading everything I have to say even though some of the articles aren’t that great, I’m just one person and to have more people read my stuff than where I was back in early 2016 and 2015 is really cool, and something I will always cherish. Although, Galaxy isn’t a brimming success like The Well-Red Mage or Panda2002 and it’s currently a underdog right now, I want to thank all of you who have stuck with me. I can’t demand an audience, or your time and attention, or a market for this kind of stuff. I can do my absolute best to earn that and in return, I must give out a volley of content that I hope it entertains, informs, and content that you like.
As Galaxy is becoming into it’s own, I wanted Galaxy to hinge on limited set of content that stresses quality over quantity, content that changes with your feedback and criticisms. Galaxy spawned because of IGN’s misuse of their community and spawned because of how journalism is going down the rabbit hole with biased reporting. I hope with this we can change journalism, most importantly gaming journalism, or at least attempt to. Change will always come, as new “features” continue to come and others are put on hiatus like “My Weekly Thoughts on RPG’s.” , nothing stays forever; yet, nothing will ever go away.
On that note, let’s talk about new business. I’m currently working on something, a new idea. Over the holidays, I wanted to bring more historical articles to the site as a result of Battlefield 1’s expansion packs, and I’m working towards what that will be. I hope this brand new series which is a miniseries will debut and see the light of day no later than before E3 rolls around. I won’t reveal what it is, but it’s filled to the brim with historical facts.
On another note, I opened up a Patreon last December and it’s something that I wanted to do for a very long time but decided against it until recently. I won’t add monetization or include advertisements, I want everything to come to you without the need for an advertisement in the way, think of it as a premium TV channel like HBO or Showtime ( closest thing that I can think of.)
It’s up to you if you want to give me money or not, it’s okay if you don’t because I’m doing this for fun and for my enjoyment but money always helps. If you want to give me your hard-earned cash, the funds will go to maintaining the site and make the site look better, I just decided to mention it in case you’re on the fence. ( I swear I’m not EA. I’m not here to rob you of your hard-earned cash.)
Here’s to a great 2018! I’m wishing you and yours nothing but the best, and hope you continue to enjoy the content that I put out and enjoy what Galaxy is doing and will do in the upcoming year.
