E3 2018 is only a week away now and around this time is always an exciting time to be a gamer. Several of the show’s biggest games will be there like Fallout 76 , Battlefield V , Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, and much more although that doesn’t that’s all the games that will be there. There will be several surprises in store for us, according to some leaks and rumors, there’s plenty of surprises.
Last year was filled to the brim with leaks and rumors, it was incredibly heavy last year. This year isn’t turning to be as leak heavy as E3 2017 but there’s still plenty of things that could be leaked out within the week leading up to E3 2018. There has been plenty of leaks and rumors about what we’ll see at this E3, and as the last piece of the Road to E3 2018, I’ve gathered up almost all of them for you to read and maybe believe.
E3 2018 kicks on Friday, June 9th with EA which will be followed by Microsoft and Bethesda which is where all the news will be coming from. Anyways, let’s get started!
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
Well, this turned out to be true.
A new AC game was leaked out by Walmart which happened to be announced yesterday by Ubisoft themselves. Walmart didn’t list a number or a subtitle which happened but according to a video by JeuxVideo, they received a photo of a keychain with the name of AC: Odyssey with the keychain having a roman helmet on which suggests what the rumors have been saying is true and that the new AC will take place in Ancient Greece.
We know a Borderlands 3 is in existence as Randy Pitchford and Gearbox themselves has told everyone that they’re working on it. Gearbox denies that Borderlands 3 will be at E3 but 2K Games recently delayed a game that was supposed to be announced which could be something Borderlands related to something BioShock related as well.
However, the Korean ESRB ( Rating boards.) outed a Borderlands remaster coming to all platforms excluding the Switch and the rating boards are reliable sources so I tend to believe this.
Gears spin-off & Gears 5?
There’s been rumors going around for the past couple of months that something Gears related will be shown off at Microsoft’s stage at E3 and this new Gears is reportedly a spin-off which has been said that the game is XCOM esque or at least influenced by XCOM which is kind of interesting. I think a game like this could freshen up the series and give it a spark of life as it is fading as it is a legacy franchise.
As for Gears 5, there has been rumors that it’s actually coming first in the cycle of Xbox’s exclusives with Halo 6 coming out later, possibly next-generation. It makes sense given that 343i wants to take as much time with Halo 6 before showing it to the world as Halo 5 was panned everywhere for its story. I believe this because it makes sense and that Gears 5 could come out first so it’s reasonable to expect at least a Gears 5 teaser at E3 2018 for release in 2019 with the spin-off coming this year.
Halo Spin-off & Halo 6?
Much like the Gears spin-off, I’ve heard rumors that there will be a Halo spin-off sometime this year or next year so 343i can take as much time to develop Halo 6’s campaign so it’s in tip-top shape. Not much is known about this spin-off but take it with a grain of salt.
Halo 6 is currently in development so I don’t think we’ll see anything about that at E3 2018. Halo 5 was a decent game but it was panned critically not just for the false teaser trailer but for the campaign as it was a horrible campaign. 343i is taking their time with Halo 6 to craft up a good finale to this new Halo saga that began in 2012.
Splinter Cell Making a Return?
Walmart Canada mentioned a new Splinter Cell that was simply titled “Splinter Cell.” which lines up with a leak a couple of months back from Amazon ( I think?) that leaked out Splinter Cell_ 2018 and I believe it’s a remaster of one of the original games given that Shadow of the Colossus was leaked a couple months ago with the _2018 marker and it turned out to be a remaster. Now, I don’t think this new Splinter Cell is a remaster but instead a reboot of the series.
Earlier this year, Ghost Recon: Wildlands was updated to feature Sam Fisher in a mission that featured the return of Michael Ironside and I don’t think it’s much of a reach to think brought him in for a small cameo in another TC game.
Cyberpunk 2077 Making It’s Debut at Microsoft’s Conference & Re-Reveal
Lastly, we know that CPDR is attending E3 2018 and rumors and leaks suggest that they’ll be appearing at Microsoft’s showcase and will be re-revealed alongside a gameplay debut there with Microsoft holding all marketing rights which would be huge for Microsoft.
I thought Cyberpunk 2077 would go to Sony seeing as Cyberpunk 2077 sounds like a game that’s perfect for Playstation but this is a huge get for MS if true. CDPR hasn’t announced what they will do there but expect something great.
