Last year was quite out there for gaming, it was an impressive year despite the Battlefront II fiasco but 2018 is probably going to be one of the best years in gaming history and it’s shaping up to be that way. From Fallout 76 to Red Dead Redemption II, this is looking to one up 2017 in many ways.
Welcome to my bold E3 predictions.
Fallout 76 is a traditional Fallout game, just with co-op attached.
There has been a lot of rumors and leaks since Bethesda announced Fallout 76 last week, especially the ones coming from Kotaku which are making the waves. These leaks and rumors are making me worried for this game as I and much of the fanbase don’t really believe in multiplayer as multiplayer doesn’t really fit in with Fallout.
So, I believe that Fallout 76 will be a traditional Fallout game where you can play by yourself but will come with optional co-op so you can play with your pal or something like that. I believe the creation engine can’t really support more than maybe 2 players because it’s origins lay in the Gamebryo Engine and the Creation Engine is more of a upgraded and updated Gamebryo Engine, it’s so old that maybe Bethesda can only go for 2 players. If they want to go full MP then maybe it’s best to actually ditch it and build a new engine from the ground up.
We finally know what IS Death Stranding and it’s playable!
Death Standing is definitely not releasing this year. It’s best put that Death Standing is at best a next generation game and a launch game for Playstation 5.
Perhaps, we’ll play it at E3 2018. Although, Hideo Kojima has been known to release a demo to public and show us what is his vision for that particular game. Look at Silent Hills and Metal Gear Solid 2 amongst Zone of the Elders and Ground Zeros. And we also finally knpw what the hell Death Stranding is.
Red Dead Redemption II gets a first gameplay look trailer at E3 2018.
Red Dead Redemption II has been coming for a very long time, I’ve waited a lifetime for Rockstar’s next foray into the American West and it’s finally here.
Typically, Rockstar doesn’t show up at E3 2018 but I feel like this is going to be a bit different this time with Rockstar actually showing up on Sony’s conference showing a gameplay trailer with them explaining what you’ll be able to do in this vast world set at the turn of the 20th century.
That Gears spin-off is actually real.
There has been rumors about a new Gears being shown off at E3 2018 but it isn’t Gears 5 but something else entirely, a spin-off of sorts.
This spin-off has been described as something similar to XCOM and it could be true. Matt Booty, the new head of first party recently did an interview where he said that they’re looking to expand the legacy franchises into new genres so that gives some sort of credence to the rumor. I think Microsoft will announce a new Gears and a new Halo spin-off at E3 to tide fans over until Halo 6 and Gears 5 releases.
A new franchise is announced at Xbox’s E3 conference but we won’t see it for a while.
Here’s something bold: Microsoft will announce a new franchise at E3.
Microsoft is in dire need of exclusives and I think they’re listening since the Xbox One X was the product of them listening to the complaints. Sony has already left them in the dust two years into the generation so I think it’s best that they actually take the initiative and take that step forward.
Microsoft needs to catch up to match Sony’s power and I think we’ll see a hint at that at E3 2018. A small hint towards the future of not only the Xbox but of Xbox first party, a re-commitment to first party exclusives. Give us a small hint and an announcement of this new exclusive but we won’t see it for a while.
And that does it for my bold predictions. Come back tomorrow for Xbox predictions and Sony predictions as we ramp up to E3 2018. See you tomorrow!
