Letters from the Front

The incredibly powerful Xbox One X is capable of pushing games out at a steady 4K resolution on a compatible 4K UHD TV set. While not all games run at native 4K all the time due to dynamic resolution scaling, nonetheless titles on the X looks incredible as they beat out competitors outside of the PC.

Here are some of the best 4K games on the Xbox One X.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolute stunning game at every level, and it looks the best on the Xbox One X. Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in 1899 America across a dying Wild West that’s brimming with detail, staggering visuals, and environmental ambience. Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar’s best work, give it a shot today.

Gears of War 5 (2019)

Gears of War 5 is a visual and technical feat on all fronts, it’s an absolute grind house. While its predecessor was one of the very first 4K games to hit on the Xbox One X , the sequel pushes it to the next level. The uber violent shooter series has long been known to push the visuals out on every installment and Gears 5 is no exception, complete with Dolby Atmos support.

Battlefield V (2018)

Despite its history and terrible reputation as one of the worst games to ever come out, there is no denying that Battlefield V is a technical feat on all fronts. It looks utterly stunning on the Xbox One X, staple WW2 theaters of war and complete with environmental destruction and 60FPS goodness makes Battlefield V a game worth checking out, even if support has already ended.

Resident Evil 2 (2019)

The best horror title of the 20th century makes a return and it’s one of the best horror titles of the generation, Resident Evil 2 is a must-play game. Set in Raccoon City at the height of the zombie outbreak, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield become embroiled in a fight for survival as they find a way out of the city. This game is a must have classic.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins & Odyssey ( 2017 & 2018 )

The recent Assassin’s Creed games are absolute graphical powerhouses that showcase the hardware chops of the Xbox One X. Both games are packed to the brim with meticulous environmental detail, sprawling landscapes, dynamic lighting, and some very good weather effects. Few games achieve more in the graphical department right now.

Once you go 4K, it’s hard to go back. While you do need a 4K TV to get the most out of the Xbox One X, many games enjoy superior frame rates and draw distances even on a 1080p set, making the Xbox One X a difficult console to walk away from. If I had to recommend a few games, it would be Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Assassin’s Creed set of games.
