As the Xbox library continues to grow and mature, we now have some great games worth playing on Microsoft’s premier console. Whether you’re a veteran or a recruit on the gaming scene, I complied some of the best games to play on the Xbox One.
This is an update from last month’s article which you can read here .
Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)
Whether you have a Xbox One S or the 4K powered Xbox One X, there is one quintessential experience you cannot miss on Microsoft’s premier console. Rockstar’s reputation as the best of their craft continues in Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a game unlike any other. A true cinematic masterpiece.
Set during the closing days of the West in 1899 America, Red Dead Redemption 2 spans five fictional states west of the Mississippi where you’ll guide Arthur Morgan and the Dutch Van Der Linde Gang across a risky parade of daring heists, gang wars, and train robberies, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must have game.
The Outer Worlds (2019)
The Outer Worlds is how to do an RPG done right.
Built by Obsidian Entertainment, makers of Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocol, The Outer Worlds sports all the same wit, charm, and consequences of the older Fallout games like New Vegas, against the backdrop of stunning sci-fi scenery and tight RPG shooting gameplay. At it’s core, The Outer Worlds is shooter from head to toe, with tight mechanics and satisfying physics. The Outer Worlds follows Obsidian’s RPG structure with dialogue choices and a branching narrative that affects the outcomes of the story. The Outer Worlds is a well-deserved title, definitely worth your time.
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt (2015)
The Witcher 3 is hands down the best RPG of the Xbox One generation, much like Red Dead Redemption 2, it is a masterpiece on its own right. Built by CPDR, The Witcher 3 is hands down the best RPG on Xbox One today, by a fairly huge margin too. The Witcher 3 is the closure of Geralt of Rivera’s story as he tracks down Ciri, his protege. Along the way, Gerald gets into some epic adventures. It is packed with dozens of hours of content so it is worth your time.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
The Modern Warfare series is one of the legendary sub-franchises to ever grace gaming in the past 20 years. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare revolutionized gaming in 2007 with its iconic take on modern combat, Modern Warfare 2 forever changed the landscape of multiplayer gaming, and Modern Warfare 3 ended the franchise on a subpar note that wrapped up the story in a nice and tidy fashion.
Modern Warfare 2019 is a hard reboot of that iconic franchise, taking place in the modern day. Instead of retelling the classic story, the story here is dark and adult-oriented with a notion of mature themes. It is a story of how warfare is carried out today with special operation groups operating in the shadows, factions waging a war on terror around the globe, and carrying out secret operations around the globe.
While the campaign is one of mature themed notions, the multiplayer and Warzone is where it’s at. While, the multiplayer is a hit or miss with numerous issues plaguing multiplayer like camping, Warzone is where you’ll have the most fun in. Warzone is Call of Duty’s Battle Royale mode that takes place in Verdansk after the campaign and Special Operations concludes, Warzone is probably one of the best Battle Royale modes I’ve played since PuBG released all the way back in 2017.
Resident Evil 2 ( 2019)
Resident Evil 2 is a legendary 90s horror game, completely remade from the ground up for the modern day. Resident Evil 2’s 2019 incarnation proves that the original game had some really good ideas and a timeless formula, it follows Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they’re caught up in a city wide zombie outbreak caused by Umbrella Corporation, a big pharma company trying to play God. This is a must buy for any horror fan, it represents a decade long legacy that will forever remain timeless.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and the other games on this list are must plays, especially Red Dead Redemption 2. Few games have begun to think about or approach what Rockstar has achieved with Red Dead Redemption 2, a timeless game and an example that all open world games and games in general should follow.
